These classes start at aged 3.5 and go up to around 5.5. They are for campers going in to PreK and K next academic year. Campers must be out of diapers. There will be around 10 campers to one teacher and two Teen Apprentices in each class.
Half Day Program
Our day starts at Morning Sing with the whole camp. When Sing is over, the PreK and K classes go to their classroom. Each teacher determines the schedule which is pretty flexible but follows a loose routine and includes activities based on our theme and lots of singing and music. A typical day may look like this:
|
Half Day Program 9:30 - 1pm
|
Full Day Program 1 - 3:30pm
|
The PreK and K campers visit the piano and percussion teachers and have special dance classes outside their rooms.
All other instrumentalists and special guests come to visit them in their classroom. They spend a LOT of time playing and singing, and dancing and singing, and even walking to the bathroom and singing. They visit the outside playground at least once each day and usually with one or more of the other groups, and join all the campers in SING at 9:30 each morning. At the end of each session they sing in our show (and usually steal it!)
Full Day Program
The afternoon program is much like the morning and it includes a snack and nap or quiet time. If weather permits, the groups will go outside to play together. In addition, we often develop a mini-theme for each week, such as "At The Beach" and "Around the World". Again, the teacher designs the activities and schedule to fit the class interests and environment.
