Designed by Levine’s board certified music therapists, engaging interventions provide opportunities for students to build relationships and to advance nonmusical and musical skills within a therapeutic environment.

Music Therapy: Group Sessions

Group music therapy sessions are designed to bring individuals of all levels of ability and disability together to make music and to develop and practice valuable social skills in a structured setting.  Sessions are tailored to the needs of the group members and are designed and led by Board Certified Music Therapists.

Through music therapy groups, the following functional areas can be addressed:

  • Gross and fine motor skills
  • Social skills
  • Speech, language, and communication skills
  • Emotional identification, management of emotions, and coping skills
  • Recreation and leisure skills
  • Self-expression and creativity development

Music therapy groups may include:

  • Singing and active music making with a variety of instruments
  • Movement to music
  • Song writing and lyric analysis
  • Role playing and rehearsal of social skills
  • Turn taking and sharing opportunities

Levine’s Music Therapy Program serves individuals with, but not limited to:

  • Autism Spectrum Disorders
  • Other Pervasive Developmental Disorders
  • Developmental, cognitive, and physical delays or disabilities
