Singers of all ages can join our energetic Community Sings led by extraordinary Levine artist-in-residence Dr. Ysaye Maria Barnwell of Sweet Honey in the Rock.  Within minutes all attendees experience the joy of singing five-part harmonies. Faculty Performances

Throughout the year, Levine’s distinguished faculty artists give performances at Levine’s four campuses and at other prominent venues. These high quality performances range in style from virtuoso piano and chamber music to jazz, rock and cabaret.

Interactive performances designed for children and parents to enjoy together.

Guest Artists

Each year musicians from the Young Concert Artist roster and Curtis Institute on Tour visit Levine to perform, work with students and talk about their lives as up-and-coming artists.

Lecture Recitals

Lecture recitals, led by faculty and featuring student performances, focus on particular facet of a composer’s musical development or explores trends in music history.

Lunch with Levine

Take an hour-long midday break from the bustling downtown to hear Levine faculty-artists at the Church of the Epiphany’s concert series.  These free concerts take place on Tuesdays at 12:10 PM and Levine faculty-artists are typically featured the second Tuesday of each month.

Master Classes

Master Classes expose Levine students to preeminent visiting artists in the role of teachers and provide unparalleled learning opportunities.  Master classes are attended by an audience who witness artistic transformations as the students work with world famous artists. Past master class artists have included: Lang Lang, Emerson String Quartet, Lambert Orkis, Menahem Pressler, Yo-Yo Ma, Emanuel Ax, Kings Singers, Lady Jeanne Galway, the Imani Winds, Manuel Barrueco, Denyce Graves, David Russell, and O|A|R.

MusicaliTea

MusicaliTeas are free daytime performances given by Levine students and faculty, followed by a reception with the performers that includes complimentary hot tea and sweets.  View upcoming MusicaliTea dates

cello-piano-duetStudent Competitions

Levine hosts several competitions throughout the year for students ages 6-18 to compete in age and instrumental groups. Competitions are judged by a well-respected panel and are open to the public to hear Levine’s rising stars perform.

Student Recitals

Levine students perform in more than 70 recitals each year at Levine campuses and venues throughout Washington. These recitals, held on each Levine campus, give students of all ages and abilities the opportunity to learn and hone their performance skills and gain confidence performing in front of an audience. Interested students should contact their teacher to perform in an upcoming recital.

Symphonic Explorations

These performance-oriented lecture courses are taught by Levine faculty in collaboration with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra.  Attendees have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the music prior to attending concerts at Strathmore by putting each orchestral piece into its social, political and historical context.  View upcoming Symphonic Explorations dates
